Mário de Almeida Franco - Uberaba Airport
The airport
Located in the Triângulo Mineiro, 481 km from the state capital, Uberaba has a strong services sector, in addition to three industrial districts of great economic relevance. Among the most populous municipalities in the state of Minas Gerais, it has furniture, food, footwear, beer and chemical factories.
The city, known worldwide as the capital of zebu cattle, is also the largest agricultural producer in the state. The municipality annually promotes Expo Zebu, the largest zebu fair in the world, responsible for stimulating the local and surrounding economy.
Another popular attraction for visitors to Uberaba is the Chico Xavier Memorial, which offers a unique opportunity to learn about the medium's journey, marked by his humanist leadership and love for others. Chico Xavier lived in the municipality from 1959 to 2002.
Uberaba is also proud to be the Brazilian municipality with the largest number of recorded dinosaur species. At the Peirópolis Paleontological Site, tourists have the opportunity to explore this geological heritage, which stands out not only for its quantity, but also for its diversity and degree of preservation of thousands of fossils dating back 80 million years.
These and other points of interest attract 100,000 visitors per year to the passenger terminal, which covers more than 2,000 square meters. The unit also handles almost 7 thousand flights and more than 81 thousand kilos of air cargo. Check out other features of Uberaba – Mário de Almeida Franco Airport (SBUR).
