The airport

Served by highways, railways, river navigation and airport, Marabá forms a major logistical junction. With a vocation for business, the municipality acts as an economic and administrative hub for the region, which is known as an Amazonian agricultural frontier, the largest producer of commodities in the Brazilian Amazon.

One of the most populous municipalities in Pará, Marabá is home to the main socioeconomic center in southeastern Pará. As a consequence, Marabá Airport is one of the busiest in the North of Brazil. The unit, which has the capacity to receive 1.5 million passengers per year, operates only domestic flights and has recorded growth in the number of passengers.
